“Somewhere, the world came crashing down on me. I escaped into an imaginary field, connecting the present to a past memory. Through gateways and mirror reflections, one can escape into an alternate reality.” — Isolde Kille
The Land of The Lilies
October 10 | 6–8 PM
@ Uncool Gallery
At the heart of this body of work lies Kille’s deep exploration into the realms of metaphysics, dreams, and subconscious creation. The Land of the Lilies deals with the blurred boundaries between myth, time, and the intangible. Drawing on her interdisciplinary approach, the exhibition merges painting, sculpture, and works on paper into an immersive, multifaceted environment. Kille’s work, rooted in experimental and ‘catharsis’ processes, challenges the permanence of form and reflects her artistic path through time, space, and inner reality.
A key aspect of the exhibition and the artist’s practice is the 360-degree arrangement of expansive, double-sided paintings which seem to hover in space, suspended from the ceiling. The paintings’ mirror-edged canvases reflect the viewer and surroundings, creating the illusion of countless possibilities and dimensions. These works explore the intersection between cosmic energy, the delicate form of a lily, and mythological themes.
In conjunction, Kille presents a series of rotating sculptural paintings, suspended and constantly shifting like DNA strands, symbolizing the fluidity of existence. This kinetic arrangement allows the works to capture light from various angles, suggesting transformation and the ever-changing flow of life. Her works on paper, displayed along the gallery walls, capture moments of erasure, reconstruction, and introspection, revealing a personal mythology that underscores her creative philosophy.
The land of the Lilies is an imaginary place. It is neither an island or continent, it is described as a place of inner knowing where mirrors reflected such as satellites today, the reflections are forming the axis from heaven to earth, an ancient mythology which are decoded as scrolls, and gateways to connect the viewer to a dreamlike existence.
Lastly, the artist will perform a private performance on October 17th from 6 to 8 PM. The event centers around a performance where Kille, embodies a shamanic figure, leads the viewer into the mythical “Land of the Lilies” through video projections and dreamlike reflections. These immersive visuals invite participants to interact with their own subconscious, while fragmentary videos of this performance will be shared online, further extending the narrative into the digital space.
