My art explores process and place: textures, colors, materials, lighting, drifting clouds, roaring seas, desert landscapes, wooded hills, rolling farmland, and forgotten objects. Traversing cities, large and small, and traveling highways in Peru, between New York and Pennsylvania, or the Rickenbacker Causeway in Miami, my eyes capture images. My mind, infused with views of billowing clouds, deserted streets, crumbling buildings, and endless highways, allows my hand to transpose and transcribe place on canvas. Playing with acrylic, water, charcoal, ceramics, collage, and sandpaper, I enjoy the process, arriving at an unknown end. The process of tilting and swirling paint on a flooded canvas, attempting to recreate air streams or waves, mesmerizes and challenges me. Infusing landscapes with human interventions raises questions about how we choose to live in the landscapes and tells stories about place.
