Carlos Ferro
b. Ponta Grossa, Brazil; lives and works in Ponta Grossa, Brazil.
Carlos Ferro works with drawing, engraving, sculpture, and installation. He researches the gesture as an attitude of energy investment, investigating psychoanalytic, existential, and formal aspects evidenced in the work. He is currently studying for a Masters in Visual Arts at the Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina, researching contemporary artistic processes. In 2019, he held the solo exhibition ‘the utility of what is not” at the Casa de Cultura Emília Erichsen in Castro/Pr, curated by Renato Torres. In 2021, he participated in the exhibition “Do Write [right] To Me”, curated by Ana Roman and Dainy Tapia, at the Miami Design District, in Miami. Since 2017, he has been participating in group exhibitions and art salons. Received the acquisition award at the 10th visual arts salon in the city of Ponta Grossa in 2019.

Carlos Ferro trabalha com desenho, gravura, escultura e instalação. Atualmente é mestrando em Artes Visuais pela Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina, na linha de processos artísticos contemporâneos. Realizou em 2019 a exposição individual ‘a utilidade daquilo que não é’ na Casa de Cultura Emília Erichsen em Castro/Pr, curada por Renato Torres. No ano de 2021, participou da exposição “Do Write [right] To Me”, com curadoria da Ana Roman e Dainy Tapia, no espaço Miami Design District, em Miami. Desde 2017, vem participando de exposições coletivas e salões de arte. Recebeu prêmio aquisição no 10 salão de artes visuais da cidade de Ponta Grossa no ano de 2019.

Carlos Ferro explores, in his poetics, the limits and potentialities of the sculptural body, stressing the notions of accident and chance, which permeate artistic practice. “Procedimento” consists of a text/sheet/score that seeks to explore issues of the body in relation to space and the notion of sculptural procedure based on instructions. The sculpture itself occurs when the instructions on the text are executed.

Carlos Ferro explora, em sua poética, os limites e potencialidades do corpo escultórico, tensionando as noções de acidente e acaso, que permeiam a prática artística. “Procedimento” consiste em um texto/folha/partitura que busca explorar questões do corpo em relação ao espaço e a noção de procedimento escultórico baseado em instruções. A escultura ocorre quando o texto é executado.
